The National Assembly elections, this morning witnessed large turnout of voters in various parts of the country.

Voters’ preferences during elections can not be ignored. Candidates for elective offices are thrown up by the parties. Depersonalization of the candidates on the voter’s card is a common feature in democracy. Candidates are rather identified with the electoral symbol of the party or its leader.

The Police yesterday asked all eligible voters in today National Assembly elections, to ‘leave the immediate voting vicinity’ and allow their various party agents to take care of protecting and watching all votes cast until they are duly counted and recorded by INEC officials.

Well, to be honest, the only problem we are having with the forthcoming elections is the personal ambition of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan. It is this single ambition that is heating up the polity because it is a violation of the PDP programme on rotation and also it’s trying to create a dichotomy of North/South divide in a way we have never experienced before.
