The second edition of the University of Lagos Management Students Association, MSA, Ladies’ Day has held, with keynote speaker Dr. Mosun Belo-Olusoga urging students to find ways to lead purposeful lives. Speaking at the event held at Tayo Aderinokun Hall, Belo-Olusoga, who is also the Chairman of MTN Foundation, spoke on the theme: DeclutHer: Finding Herself in the Midst of Quiet Purpose.

She emphasized that discovering purpose requires a process of reinvention, which involves eliminating distractions, uncovering personal skills and passions, prioritizing time, and surrounding oneself with the right company.

Addressing the audience, Dr. Belo-Olusoga, whose milestones include being the first female Executive Director at GTB and first female Board Chairman at Access Bank, stated: “In today’s world filled with distractions, you young ladies need to declutter your minds, emotions, and social and physical well-being. You must prioritize what is important, rediscover your skills and identity, and make wise choices when it comes to the company you keep.” She added that discovering purpose gives life direction, emphasizing the role of God and investing in lifelong learning.

Queen Ashley Akokota, a 400-level Finance student and project lead for this year’s Ladies’ Day, explained that the event aimed to create a sense of community among the ladies, encouraging them to dream big and pursue their life goals. 

Akokota explained that ‘Ladies.Out.2.0’ was designed to bring ladies together, foster community, and help them find their identity and purpose. She emphasized the goal of encouraging female students to think outside the box, break stereotypes, sit at the table, and become leaders. Beyond this event, Akokota noted that the Management Students Association (MSA) activities encompass a diverse range of impactful initiatives, including health talks, organizing academic debates, quizzes, and providing professional mentorship. Event participant, Iyene Oludemi, a 300-level student, expressed great enthusiasm about the program. She stated that her expectations were fully met, as the event provided an invaluable opportunity to engage with and learn from highly accomplished professional women, gaining deep insights into their industry success.
