SOKOTO — The Usman Abubakar Kesoje Charity Foundation has distributed exercise books and school uniforms to pupils in 10 selected schools across the Shagari Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) in Sokoto State.

The initiative is aimed at supporting school enrolment, improving retention and enhancing learning outcomes as part of the foundation’s efforts to promote access to quality basic education in rural communities.

Speaking during the distribution ceremony, a representative of the foundation, Mallam Bashiru Kesoje, said the programme reflects the vision of the foundation’s founder, Hon. Usman Abubakar Kesoje, to support the education of young Nigerians.

He described education as a key driver of social and economic development and said the foundation would continue to implement programmes that improve access to learning opportunities.

According to him, the provision of exercise books and school uniforms will reduce the financial burden on parents while encouraging pupils to remain in school.

The event was attended by education stakeholders from Shagari LGEA, including the Deputy Education Secretary, Muhammad A. Muhammad, who represented the Education Secretary.

Others present were the Quality Assurance Officer, Mubarak Aliyu Ado; the Head of School Services, Mukhtar Shagari; the Mobilisation Officer, Danbello Sani; the Area Quality Assurance Officer for Kajiji Area; as well as head teachers and community leaders.

In his remarks, Muhammad commended the foundation for supporting efforts to improve teaching and learning in the beneficiary schools.

He said the donation would enhance classroom participation and contribute to better learning outcomes for pupils.

Muhammad also encouraged individuals, organisations and other stakeholders to complement government efforts by supporting education, particularly at the grassroots level.

The event concluded with the presentation of the learning materials and school uniforms to the beneficiary schools.
